Earlier this year, I read the book Turn Right at Machu Picchu by Mark Adams, chronicling his journey retracing Hiram Bingham’s expedition through Peru. It sparked an immediate urge to book a flight—and revealed layers of Peruvian history and lesser-known destinations I’d never encountered before.
